Since updating to Dell ThinOS 2205 (9.3.1129), merlin image or upgrade from WMS (3.7) the OS seems to ignore whatever option is set in “Login experience”, “Session Settings” , “Enable Auto Log Off”.
All previous firmware version worked with this setting.
The “Idle Timeout”, “Inactive Timeout” and “Lock Timer” options in this section all work as designed.
any help would be appreciated
June 28, 2022 at 7:20 am #107695Ah, that explains why I am having trouble with this after upgrading to ThinOS 2205. I am really dissappointed with how many bugs ThinOS 9 stil presents after over a year since version 9.1.
June 28, 2022 at 9:09 am #107696I down-graded to ThinOS 9.1.6108 and now this is working as expected again.
July 6, 2022 at 10:45 am #107715We ran into the same issue as well when testing OS 9.3.1129 where after signing off Windows you get dumped into the ThinOS desktop now instead of getting signed completely out.
Thought it was our WMS settings but looks like it’s not just us having this happen.
We’re sticking with 9.1.6108 for now.

We’re 2 months in on a support case to get our finger print readers working with Imprivata on OS 9 with an Optiplex 3000. We’re at the point where we’re looking at other hardware vendors now.
July 13, 2022 at 9:28 am #107730We are experiencing exactly the same with 9.3.1129 (2205) and have raised a ticket with ProSupport yesterday.

I totally understand your frustration. ThinOS support for our smartcard identification fortunately works okey for us. From what I know other vendors of thin clients don’t have this support so we are stuck with ThinOS 9 for now. Dell should really get a grip on this. ThinOS 8.6 was great and worked fine for most of the time.
July 14, 2022 at 11:42 am #107734After getting in contact with ProSupport I found out, that Auto Log Off (or shutdown/reboot) is indeed working, if inactive timeout is set to 0 as a workaround.
Any other value will lead to Auto Log Off to not work anymore.
So there is a workaround and I am fairly confident that there is a fix soon.
August 2, 2022 at 11:38 am #107782It absolutely ridiculous how many bugs are still present even in the latest ThinOS 2205 release but the worst part is every release of 9.x I’ve tested has introduced new issues that significantly impact the configuration of my devices (including the one reported in this post). As Peter stated ThinOS 8.6 was extremely stable and I almost never experienced any issues. The 9.x release has been a nightmare. The regression testing (if any) that is being performed before each release is pathetic.
August 27, 2022 at 4:25 am #107832I also found out that the Reconnect functionality (Global session settings – Advanced settings – Reconnect) works differenty in 2205 (9.3.1129) then in 9.1.6108.
In 2205 (9.3.1129) the reconnect option appears not only after a disconnection, but also after a log off.
The result is that when somebody logs off his/her VDI, the session gets reconnected after the amount of seconds defined in “reconnect”.
August 31, 2022 at 10:19 pm #107856Give the latest 2208 a try, you will need to also download the packages for your broker, i.e. vmware…
