So I want to share some info and stuff I found out about Tin OS 9, so this way you all wont be banging your head on the desk for 2 weeks like I have. So here is some stuff I found and bugs.. Now this all has been done only on a 5470
1. When doing the upgrade from 8.6 to 9, the device was almost bricked, I had to manually do the upgrade via USB drive.
2. AFTER you do the upgrade using the USB drive, the MQTT server is incorrect. So to fix this, go ahead and put in all your group key information, then LEFT click go to System Setup then Admin Policy Tools. Once you are there go to Services and select WMS setting. Make sure to enable it and make sure the server and the MQTT is correct. Once you have done this, now go to Central Config, then Validate key. At this point it will then validate and connect to WMS.
Also something cool with Thin OS 9, you can have multiple environments at one using a group selection. This is something we been wanting for a long time so we could take devices from office to home.
So in the Groups & Configs, select your Default group, then click on the + symbol to add a new group. You will get the pop up window to make your groups, once you have that done, you will notice a check box, This is a ThinOS Select group parent. If you select that, it will make a group where you can do different environments. For me on the 5470, I now have the ability to setup a Internal and External Citrix connection. Once you created the group, now go to the new group you made and create you selection groups now.
I hope some of this helps yall from having a headache like me!
Cheers!

This feature is available quite a long time in ThinOS 8.x. Easy to implement via INI parameters.

Dell documentation quality is quite low level in this respect.
thanks, Steve
October 1, 2021 at 9:45 am #106285Greetings! If you are referring to Select Groups, at your Default Group Policy, Click the + to add a new group. There you will see an option on the Description field “This is a ThinOS Select group parent”, check this box. You can optionally add specific admins below.
Now click Save. With the new Select Group created you can now create policies under the select group, i.e. Broker 1, then another for Broker 2. Note, add user devices to the group that will be the default group for the user. What the user will see is a login screen with a dropdown for the other brokers defined.
Hope this helps.
