Our 7 R50L terminals are very slow starting. In a government environment like ours slow starting is not uncommon 😉 but our R50L take about 3 to 4 minutes !!
We have update to the latest firmware and they are brand new.

    Anybody any idea’s ???

In the mean time we got info from our reseller that we should remove Boot from Lan (or something) in the bios from the startup -entry. We found that impossible but we moved that option to the last place (nr. 6) and our startup time was reduced by half. In stead of over 3 to 4 minutes it is now 1 minute and 40 seconds.

    Hi,

I have tested this in my lab and for me it too 1m40s to boot.
Is the unit maybe still trying to access a PXE server at the beginning causing such a delay?

    Apperently so.

We moved boot option PXE LAN downwards so it is the last boot option.

Then we got the same boot time as ConfGen did.

Apperently it takes that amount of time to boot.

    Thank you for you input.

I did first tests with a beta version of SLETC 11. The boot time was much faster. It took only about 1 minute.

Wyse is currently running a modified Suse Linux Enterprise for Thin Clients (SLETC) version 10.
THe next version will be, analog to Suse’s Desktop Linux SLED, version 11.
