Is it possible to schedule our Thin Clients to reboot at a specific time, or to log off and allow the 30 second reconnect to happen at a specific time.

We stop and start services at night on specific servers which cause the thin clients to lose connection. Our users freak out, as they won’t adhere to the policy of shutting down their thin clients at the end of the day.

Can we force them to shutdown at a specific time of the day, or can we set them to log off and allow the reconnection we have setup at 30 seconds to reconnect them so that they all get reconnected after our services are restarted and before they arrive in the office to complain about their connection not working?

There is a wnos.ini command to shutdown the unit at a certain time. Check out the ConfGen tool for the correct syntax.

    Good Afternoon

I have ConfGen and am looking to set an automatic shutdown for all our terminals. Where abouts is this option in the ConfGen?

    Many Thanks

tab General II > option Reboot > fill in the time like 21:23 or what ever you like.

I can’t seem to find this option as you have written it. There is an option under General III for Shutdown/Reboot. Do i put the time in the “Shutdown Counter” box?

    Many Thanks

No you can’t compare “Shutdown Counter” with a scheduled reboot, if you can’t find this option in tab General II be sure you have version 5.2.06

    Good Afternoon

I have downloaded the 5.2.06 version of ConfGen. I have tried the setting under ‘General II’ Tab but this does exactly what it suggests, a reoccurring reboot. I want the terminal to switch off completely, is there another setting to change this? I have also manually changed the .ini file to ‘No’ after ‘Reboot=’. This didn’t do anything as i expected.

    Many Thanks

    Hi,

only reboot is supported. If you need a shutdown, you should contact Wyse to get this implemented. Just call any Wyse SE. They are happy to help (most of the time) 😉
