I am not able to reboot or shutdown devices from the right click menu in the WDM console. I also tested the “change device information” option as it has a check box for reboot machine. That doesn’t work either. Any ideas why rebooting from the WDM console isn’t working for me?
I know that some right click options work, because I am able to remote shadow from the right click menu. However, I would like to be able to do that without having someone on the other end accept it. Is there a setting for that somewhere?
I was also fighting with trying to send a reboot package to the devices when I found another post on the forum that said WTOS doesn’t understand the WDM scripting language. Which seems to contradict something else I read on freewysemonkeys: “in the case of WTOS we use a Rapport script to import the entire contents of the WNOS folder into Rapport and register it as a non PXE image.” Am I missing something there?
Thanks!
February 7, 2012 at 5:04 pm #21758I figured out how to set up remote shadow without requiring input from a user on the other end.
Edit the wnos.ini with the following:
SignOn=No
MaxVNCD=1
VncPrompt=No Accept=5Also the settings can be found in Configuration Generator>Network>VNC
February 10, 2012 at 1:49 pm #21786Hi,
I’m a newbie and facing the same problem. I’m not able to reboot/shutdown. I tried the “package distribution wizard” to distribute the reboot/shutdwon scripts. But in the update manager, I see their status as always scheduled. I tried shadow, and its working. Please help me to resolve this issue.
February 10, 2012 at 3:04 pm #21788Have you tried the right-click Reboot option when clicking on the device?
The package will not work for sure.
BTW, WDM 4.7.2 is VERYYYYYYYY old.CG
February 13, 2012 at 5:32 am #21790Thanks for ur reply. Actually I’m using WDM 4.8.5(installed on Win 7 platform) with Wyse Zenith. Actually I wanted to send the shutdown/reboot to the xenith client. Is there any specific config file or any fine tuning that has to be done to make the setup work.
March 8, 2012 at 5:34 pm #21912I opened a ticket with Wyse and the tech had me run some network traffic captures to see what was going on. When attempting a right-click reboot, no command went out over the network to the thin client, so we concluded it was a problem with the install. He recommended and upgrade to 4.9 – imagine that.
I don’t know that you having the same issue that I am, Rapid. You are trying to reboot Xenith devices (with the Zero engine) from a much newer version of WDM, whereas I am rebooting WTOS devices from 4.7.2 Also, when I tried sending reboot packages, I just got an error that they failed, instead of staying in scheduled state.
But good luck and I’ll post if upgrading fixes my issues… when I get the time to do the upgrade, that is.
