    Hello everyone,

I’ve been having some trouble over the past few months while trying to clean up our Wyse environment left on my plate after a previous employee left.

I have an environment on around 125 Wyse Terminals, half are running 8.0+ images and half are running 7.1_207. The problem is, whenever I remote shadow into some of the ones that are running an image of 7.1_207, I see two screens. It’s really one, but the one screen is doubled. Cut down the middle, it’s on the left side and the right side. Now, I thoug ht iould fix this by injecting a line into the .ini stating, dualhead=no. But that didn’t work.

I am currently in the process of purchasing over 70 new WTOS 3020’s, but I need to confirm every wyse terminal is running the intended .ini file. It makes it incredibly hard to do this when I cannot even tell what i’m really clicking.

If you do not have the issue only with the old firmware, why do you not upgrade the old units?
Why do you expect issues with the new units?

Do you have something like “DualScreen=yes” in your wnos.ini?

I do not expect issues with the new units. the several 3020’s, 3010’s, and 5040’s that I’ve given my new .ini have worked flawlessly with our Connection Broker, and all other areas.

Also, no I do not have “DualScreen=yes” in the .ini

I myself do not know how to upgrade the firmware of the older units. My coworker told me when they tried to upgrade the old units, they “bricked”, as in, they “broke”. Speaking to a WTOS tech, he told me that my coworkers must’ve done something wrong.

I would attempt to upgrade some today, if I knew how and if I had the upgrade file. I am very knowledgeable in some aspects of WTOS, but very weak in a lot of areas.

Upgrading the clients to a new firmware is really simple. Just put the newer firmware in the same folder as the wnos.ini file, make sure that the wnos.ini file has Autoload=1 or =2 included and reboot the client.

ThinOS is running under maintenance. If you do not have a valid maintenance for your clients, you are not allowed to download newer firmware.
