    Hello CG,
in your post “WYSE THINOS 9.1 READY-TO-ORDER” you say that I have to special order it to get “Wyse 3040 Thin Clients” with ThinOS 8.6.

You can still get devices with 8.6 until June 22nd. However, you have to make sure to order them that way. If you do not say anything, you will get 9.1 now.

But where do I have to specify this, I can’t find anything in the ordering process or is this only possible by phone?

    greetings

    Hi,

Unfortunately I can’t help you with the ordering of 8.6. But I’ve heard that you could expect long delivery times on the clients if ordering with a downgrade.

I think it’s really strange to start shipping a version of ThinOS that is barely stable and still has so many bugs and then force the customers to mass downgrade manually or special order with long delivery times as a result.

Just talked to Dell and apparently you can order 8.6 until June 22nd without any additional delay in delivery. After that 8.6 is “special order”.

This means that thin clients with ThinOS 8.6 can only be ordered by phone, right?

I have never tried to do so via the web, but I guess that ordering via phone will be the only option, yes.

    Thanks for the answer.

If we order the normal version with ThinOS 9.1 for the sake of simplicity, is a manual downgrade to 8.6 still possible or is this blocked by the firmware / BIOS?

You can use the USB Imaging Tool and manually downgrade the client.
