Guys, I see a lot of Screen Configuration / Monitor issues with ThinOS 8.6 which is really a mess.

I’ve done a WMS configuration for a Thin Client 3040 using a QHD Monitor on DP1 and a FHD Monitor on DP2.

I’ve configured the Mode (Span) and for Screen1 the QHD Resolution and for Screen2 the FHD Resolution in WMS. Everything works like a charm and expected.

After the update to the Verision 8.6. all is a mess.

I doesn’t matters where i put the FHD screen (DP1 or DP2) it is recognized as Screen 1 and will be the main monitor. I can use also DDC and Change the DP ports. Nothing changes it doesn’t work as before.

After doing a Downgrade to ThinOS 8.5 everything works fine. This is really a mess.

Does anyone has a solution for those issues with ThinOS 8.6 ??

Have you contacted Dell Support on this one?
    Sounds like a bug.

    HI,

i’ve openend a case at friday. Unfortunately no response till today.

I had a similar issue on the first version of 8.6 and hoped it have been solved with 8.6_202 but it seems like it is still there. Hopefully there will be a solution.

    Thanks for your response.

    Dell Support said:

In ThinOS 8.6 MultiMonitor features have been implemented.

The monitor which will respond first will be Screen 1 regardless of the wms configuration and the DP port connected.

To get this behaviour fixed it is necessary in WMS to allow “Enable all Manual Overrides” in the Device Settings Management config part. Then it will be necessary to change the configuration of each TC at the user level to match his individual monitor configuration needs.

Thats a big step back since this won’t allow central management if you use different monitors with the same monitor configurations in a group of TCs.  I found it really a mess that I will need now to let the users do a manuell setting or do it by myself in behalf of the user.

I’ve decided to go with 8.5._024 till the new version of ThinOS 9 / WMS 2.0 will arrive.
