Has anyone had success upgrading a thin client’s BIOS to the latest version, 1.15.1?  I’m trying to do this on a 5070 thin client running ThinOS 9.1.5067 and BIOS 1.13.1 but it’s not working.  I also tried upgrading ThinOS to 9.1.6108 and then upgrading BIOS but that didn’t work either.  Both WMS and the BIOS itself are reporting version 1.13.1, but if I look in the event log on the thin client I am seeing the entry “wms: ignore remote source(same version) 1.15.1 bios”.

I even tried factory resetting the thin client but no matter what I do the event log is reporting that it’s ignoring it due to it being the same version.  Not sure what I could be doing wrong and was curious if anyone else was seeing this behavior.

I was able to take a 5470 up to v1.12.0 locally (that’s not the same hardware as yours, so therefore not the same BIOS), but it did work on ThinOS 9.1.3129.  I subsequently deployed ThinOS 9.1.6108 from WMS.

We are experiencing exactly the same problem:

Neither 5070 nor 5470 will update to newest versions (1.15 or 1.12 respectively).

Only tried with 9.1.6108 devices so far though.

Same thing here.  Dell 5470s install the BIOS package, but it does no upgrade the bios

    Hi,

I just took a brand new 5070 delivered with ThinOs 9.1.3129 and BIOS 1.12, then push with WMS 3.6 the BIOS 1.15.1, ThinOS 9.1.6108 and Citrix Workspace App 21.12.0.18.3

All package downloaded and installed well, then after the reboot the BIOS 1.15.1 installed too…

WMS and ThinOS correctly reporting BIOS 1.15.1

    Smooth installation… sorry !

1 of 5 Wyse 5070 devices has been upgraded to 1.15 as well as our single 5470 to 1.12.

They were all on the same ThinOS/BIOS version before the upgrade and are all sitting in the same policy group. No idea how to fix this.

I’m now on the latest version of WMS (3.7.458) and ThinOS (2205) for my 5070 devices.  Still experiencing the same problem when trying to upgrade their BIOS to 1.17.0.  Out of the 11 devices that I’ve tried, 3 updated the BIOS.  The other 8 report that it’s the same version and ignore the new BIOS.  I did the exact same steps for all 11 devices, so there’s no rhyme or reason as to why only a handful were successful.  Are other people still having this problem as well?

    Hi gftarbert,

I don’t know if it is your problem, but when I prepared the upgrade I find this recommendation from dell.   I have the same environment, I tried to upgrade only 3 devices, and looks good

    Hey MartinK,

Yeah, I did see that in the Migration Guide and that is what I did.  I have a Config Group that I move them into to where it upgrades ThinOS.  After that completes I move them into a separate Config Group where it upgrades the BIOS.  Still no luck for me, though.
