I was directed here by reddit after two weeks of no luck with Dell support. Our business bought a few 3040 thin clients which had an issue during RDP connections where black patches would appear when dragging windows. We were provided a firmware to update which I did by FTP, however now when the device boots it asks for a username and password which I definitely had not configured. I’ve tried all the default passwords I could find:
Administrator | Administrator (also lowercase)
User | User (also lowercase)
Administrator | Wyse#123
User | Wyse#123
admin | admin
admin | password
Here are the config settings in my wnos.ini file:
Autoload=1
loadpkg=1
Addpkg=TCX,FR,horizonWould really appreciate assistance on this matter.

January 30, 2020 at 3:29 pm #51695Hi ConfGen,
Thank you. I see that the Merlin image is the one we currently use.
But of all available images that one can download on dells support site, it is one of the oldest.Do i have any other options? fx. to load the new 8.6.206 RAW image?
January 30, 2020 at 4:07 pm #51696Merlin images are only created for the main releases. Every maintenance release afterwards will not be available as a Merlin image.
So, the way to go would be to install the Merlin image and then update tobte latest image version via WMS or FTP.CG
February 14, 2020 at 4:29 am #51760HEllo,
I am new to this. I am trying to downgrade firmware, but i get that i am blocked. I tried using the USB Imaging Tool to copy an old Wyse 5070 with firmware 1.1.4, but when i try to push to a newer Wyse 5070 with 1.3.1, it will not downgrade firmware/software.
Any Ideas?
February 14, 2020 at 9:21 am #51761When you talk about 1.1.4 and 1.3.1, this sounds like BIOS versions and not firmware versions.
Please confirm what firmware you are using?CG
February 14, 2020 at 7:40 pm #51763We are running 1.2.4 and 1.3.1 Bios Versions
Agent is 4.5.0.0
Wyse ThinOS is 8.6_206
RTMEi386 is 2.7.52738
Anything else needed?
The reason we are trying to downgrade, is that we are constantly getting disconnects/freezing from our Citrix farm. We have instructed to our users to just reboot the wyse terminal and log back in. Their VDI is in tact and working as it was right before the disconnect. The reasoning behind, downgrading to 1.1.4, is that we noticed that some users on that version have an uptime of 30+ days.
Can you shed some guidance. Would really appreciate it.
February 14, 2020 at 8:20 pm #51764So you want to downgrade the BIOS?
This will no change anything.
The working units are also running firmware 8.6_206?
How do you try to downgrade?CG
February 14, 2020 at 8:23 pm #51765correct. the units that are working are running 8.6_206.
We downgrade with wyse management suite.
Any recommendations on what the issue might be?
February 24, 2020 at 1:18 pm #51829Instead of downgrading, are you using “Session reliability”?
CG
February 24, 2020 at 4:16 pm #51846No we are not. We turned it off because it was causing issues with gpu and disconnects. Do you think we should turn it back on?
February 24, 2020 at 4:27 pm #51847Yes
