    Hi

    I am currently trying to learn and explore the possibilities with Wyse devices.

    We have several wyse 1200LE running in our “live” network, and i am looking to get more wyse terminals this year. So i thought its a good time to learn more about these neat little devices.

    I have some wyses here that was not configured for use in our “live” network, and started to play around with them.

    I have a “test” set up with dhcp and FTP running, the wyse connects to the ftp and downloads images and the wnos.ini file just fine.
    As long as i am connected to the “test” network, all seems good to me.
    The wyse has all settings i have supplied in the ini file, and i can adjust network settings directly on the wyse.

    But as soon as i connect the wyse to the “live” network, the wyse is back in lockdown mode and i cant adjust networksettings.

    If i try to choose the option for “reset the system to factory default” and shutdown the system, when i restart it without the ethernet it restarts with the factory default settings.

    There is no ftp on our “live” network, or atleast there is no DHCP server configuration for FTP on the “live” network. ( u know the 161 and 162 tag )

    I thought the wyse would save the settings i have set in the wnos.ini when i power it down and move it to the “live” network.

    These are the settings i want the wyse to get from the FTP server

    Published Application

    Connection Description: Desktop
    Browser Servers: 10.10.30.3
    Application Name: Desktop
    Encryption Level: Basic

    Use HTTP for browsing
    Display resolution Default
    Full Screen Mode
    High Colors

    Here is my wnos.ini

    privilege=high Lockdown=no
    signon=0
    autoload=1
    autopower=yes
    DeskColor = “000 000 111”
    desktop=”pic”.jpg
    ICABrowsing=http
    HttpBrowsing=1
    Speedbrowser=on
    #comments removed to decrease transmission time
    connect=ICA
    description=”Desktop”
    icon=desktop.ico
    browserip=10.10.30.3
    application=”Desktop”
    Fullscreen=yes
    autoconnect=0

    The users should click on the citrix icon, and be prompted to enter username and password to log on.

    I want to be able to use DHCP in our network, even for the wyse clients.

    What am i missing here?

    Edit: when i set the Wyse to static IP it keeps the facory default.
    If i get the wnos.ini file correct, it should be able to get the correct settings from the FTP server when i enable DHCP

    The client is NOT saving the settings locally. This option is new to the actual models like S10, V10L or C10LE. The 1200LE simply hasn’t enough flash space to do that.
    The 1200LE is only storing some parameters if you tell him to do so.
    EnableLocal=yes, Privilege=high Lockdown=yes, or LocalCopy=yes are the needed parameters here.

    If you move the 1200LE to your live network and it shows up with a different config then you can be sure that it has grabbed it from some FTP server.

    Use a Network trace tool like MS Netmon or Etherreal to find out where the FTP server is.
