All our 8.x thin clients connect to a Windows 2019 server with Remote Desktop Services on it, and several RDP servers in the pool. They get their configuration from our IIS server with the wnos.ini file on it. That is it; pretty basic. We’ve never used WMS. Since 8.x support is going way, we have to upgrade them all to 9.x.
I spoke with Dell support briefly, who pointed me to the dell support site & 3.2 admin guide; the migration guide doesn’t mention this. Would you somehow use the wnos (or another) .ini file to turn on the WMS option, and give the 8.x thin clients a group token from the new 9.x server?
I was hoping simply using our open source back end DHCP server product would be enough to redirect them to the new WMS server and get instructions. Surely Dell doesn’t believe a company that had hundreds of these would insist on physical intervention for each one?
Thanks so much for your help! : )
I would use the wnos.ini to point them to the WMS.
If you are using DHCP option tags, you can also go that route.

Thanks for the input!
