We have been provided a version of 7.1 from Wyse support for test purposes on one of our s10 terminals.

I’d now like to downgrade this back to 6.5

Can’t find any information about this anywhere, so I’m guessing it isn’t possible?

I know they downgrade OK from 6.5 to 6.1 but there doesn’t seem to be a way to drop lower than 7.1

    Cheers

You cannot easily downgrade a S10 from v7 to v6. You will need a so called Merlin image plus the Wyse USB Imager.

Call Wyse support and ask them for the files.
The Imager is on the Wyse download site.

I spoke to wyse support, and they couldn’t help unfortunately!

They initially told me to replace the v7 firmware with v6.5 on the ftp server and it should downgrade itself!

I explained that this didn’t work, and their response was that it cant be done.

    Any ideas?

Sill trying to find this so called Merlin image. Is there anything else that wyse may know of it as? I’ve spoken to a couple of people there and am drawing a blank unfortunately.

Hello, I am having the same problem as timstone. I talked with Dell/Wyse support and I referenced the “Merlin” image. I received the following response.

    Hi Robert,

    Thanks for your response.

Once a S10 device is upgraded to WTOS 7.x, it cannot be downgraded to 6.x. Published methods of downgrading the ThinOS are not supported by Wyse.

    Warm Regards,
    (deleted by Admin)

I have looked extensively for the “Merlin” image for the S10, w/o success. Where can I find it and how do I use it? 🙂 Dell/Wyse seems to have washed their hands of the S10.

Why have you upgraded at all? And why do you want to downgrade again?

The S10 was purchased used. It had the 7.xx upgrade already installed on it. I wish to use the S10 as a stand-alone unit.

    Thank you for responding.

Go back to the Wyse support and explain this to them, especially the offline part. Push them a bit.
