Hi there,
Am new to the forum. Just have some questions if someone could help as we are struggling with our Wyse thin clients.
We are running Wyse Device Manager 5.5 with about 40 Wyse 3010 and 3020 (and some V10L). The 3010/20 are on firmware 8.1_027. We want to upgrade individual thin client (to firmware 8.6) to check if that fixes the Network Level Authentication issues again RDP to Windows 2016 RDS servers, where users are unable to reset expired password.
We have the ftp folder set up on the WDM server at location C:\inetpub\ftproot\Rapport\WTOSCONFIG\WNOS\ which is where our wnox.ini is It contains all the connect details.
I have a feeling that I need to create additional “wnox” ini file and save them in the folder C:\inetpub\ftproot\Rapport\WTOSCONFIG\WNOS\inc and name them like “zzMachineName.ini” and have these lines available:
Autoload=1
Signon=0
FactoryDefault=Yes
And I think I also need to put the firmware file at C:\inetpub\ftproot\Rapport\WTOSCONFIG\WNOS\
My questions are:
1. Should I use T10D_wnos_2 or DOVE_2 as the firmware to update please?
2. Should I put the firmware file at C:\inetpub\ftproot\Rapport\WTOSCONFIG\WNOS\?
3. Is it the correct way to set up a zzMachineName.ini file so I can only update single machine please?
Sorry if I sounded vague but we were inherited the setup and there is hardly any documentation.
Thanks,
Edmond.
If you want to upgrade only specific clients, you need machine-based INI files.
Create a subfolder \inc\ under your \wnos folder
Create a new text file there with only Autoload=1 in it
Name is eg. 008064123456.ini, where 008064123456 is the MAC address of the unit you want to upgrade
Edit your wnos.ini and change Autoload=1 to Autoload=0
Add Include=$mac.ini to the end of your wnos.ini (or at least one line below your Autoload parameter)
Copy the firmware file in your \wnos folder
Reboot the client
Done
BTW, there is no wnox.ini. The correct name is wnos.ini 😉
Thanks so much for the reply Master Jedi ConfGen,
I will try your suggestion next.
Thanks heaps.
Edmond.
