I hope someone can shed some light on this topic for me. I’ve followed the documentation from Wyse religiously to setup the DHCP option tags 161 and 162. But when my V10L boots up, it’s able to locate the default FTP server, however, when I click on the Desktop>System Setup>NetworK>the file/server path is point to my FTP server IP address/ftproot/wyse..therefore, it cannot find the WNOS.ini file. I reset the V10L to default several times. But somehow, it’s still pointing to /ftproot/wyse…I don’t know where the /ftroot is coming from. I’ve spoken to Wyse engineer and spent countless hours on the phone. I had one of my Sr. Server admin to reexamine the DHCP option tags to make sure that it’s setup correctly. Wyse Engineer even look at my DHCP and said it’s correct..but somehow, he’s indicating that something is wrong with our DHCP eventhough he agrees that the settings are correct. My Sr. Server Admin is adamant that nothing is wrong with our DHCP…The Wyse engineer is asking me to reboot the DHCP server, however, this is one of our primary DHCP server in production and I really need to know if anyone has seen this problem before I attempt to reboot our DHCP server. Thanks for your help.
April 12, 2009 at 11:42 am #15632That really sounds strange. I have never seen this issue.
Three things:
– Can you do a network trace while the V10L is getting its IP address? Check the DHCP Offer for the options it inherits. How does it look there?
– What does your wnos.ini look like? Was it ever read in?
– What firmware version are you using?CG

April 20, 2009 at 3:17 pm #15676Thank you gentleman, someone boots up the WDM server without informing any of the IT personnel. It was a scramble to finally figure that part out. Your input helps me tremendously.
April 20, 2009 at 3:40 pm #15677You can leave it running if you like but disable the FTP path return in WDM under Configuration Manager-Preferences-Blazer Preferences (or Wyse Thin OS Preferences, depending on what version of WDM you are running)
