Hi. New here, so apologies if this has been covered before, but I’m struggling to find the relevant info here or elsewhere online.

We have some new Dell WYSE 3040 thin clients that we are going to use to replace some legacy WYSE thin clients that are running on a 2003 Citrix Farm which is to be decommissioned.

We have a 2012R2 RDS environment (SRV01 – RDCB, RDLS, RDWA, RDSH SRV02 – RDSH) and a number of RemoteApps that we deploy to users within our Windows Domain. What I require the WYSE 3040 clients to do is boot and auto-launch one of the published RemoteApps.

We are not using WDM or WMS as we only have a handful of Thin Clients, so are happy to configure these manually, individually if needed. We just need a simple setup to auto-launch a single RemoteApp.

Would somebody be able to point me in the right direction of how to do this? Do I need to generate an ini configuration file and load this on via USB, or can I simply set the correct settings for this manually directly on the device? General instructions for either option would be helpful.

Dell WYSE 3040 are running ThinOS 8.6_013

Open System Setup-Remote Connections and select Microsoft as your broker.
Then enter the name of the app you want to start automatically under Autoconnect List.

    Hi CG

Thanks for your reply. I am unable to add images to this reply.

When selecting Microsoft as broker, even without specifying anything in the AutoConnect List, I get the error “RD Broker Sign On Failed”.

I have added in the SSL cert manually.

I have proven the credentials I am using are correct, as if I create an RDP connection instead of using Microsoft as a broker, I am able to successfully connect and launch a full remote desktop. I have used ip address and hostname of connection broker.

Is there something I am missing on the Microsoft broker setup?

If I can get it to work, what are the parameters or format of what should be listed in the AutoConnectList?

Using RDP instead of Microsoft, could I use the Start Command to achieve the same thing and auto-launch a single RemoteApp?

Do you have RDweb role running on your broker server? This is needed.

Yes, SRV01 is Connection Broker, Licencing Server, Session Host and RD Web Access and SRV02 is just Session Host

What cert have you added? Root and Intermediate?

Just the end user SSL cert that we have deployed on our RDS Server. This is a wildcard cert used for both connection broker and RD Web Access

You do not need a server cert on a client.
Install the Root and Intermediate one.
