We are currently running a Xenapp 6 Farm on Windows Server 2008 R2 with SP1. We are using the Wyse C10LE thin clients and are trying to use a dual monitor setup. We purchased the dual monitor plugs from Wyse and are using 1 DVI connection and 1 VGA connection.

The issue we are having is when we maximize applications. If we open an application like Internet explorer and click on the Maximize button, it spans accross both screens, whereas on a windows box, it would only fill 1 screen. We are trying to make the user experience as similar to a desktop as possible, so we must use Seamless apps.

Did you installed Wyse TCX Suite on the Server side ?

We installed the Wyce TCX suite based on searches we found on this site, but it ended up causing errors in internet explorer so we uninstalled. We actually spoke to Wyse Support who told us not to use the TCX suite (they later said to use it as a workaround for our issue). Wyse has been telling us that this should work without the TCX suite because that is built into the latest firmware.

The process that is responsible for “not” spanning windows on multiple screens is called wysehk.exe (“C:Program FilesWyseTCXServerMulti-displaywysehk.exe”) it will also read the wysehk.ini for the needed settings.

So basically if you don’t have this process (or even installed) running in your session i have no idea what other option you have to get this working.

Which version of Wyse TCX suite did you installed and where giving errors with IE ?

Wyse is correct. TCX is not needed in a XA6 environment.
This should work out of the box.

ConfGen can you tell me if TCX is not needed at all in XA6.x environment, even not for sound redirection or flash ?

No, it is not needed in that environment. Nearly all features that come with TCX are already part of HDX nowadays.

So is there something in my config that is causing the windows to not be maximized on one screen?

    Add
    Dualhead=yes
    to your wnos.ini.

Has there been any update on this? I’ve updated my firmware and tried all of the suggestions I can find on this topic, but all apps launched from my xenapp6 farm span both monitors when the maximize button is clicked. I’ll add that apps launched in our XA5 and 4.5 farms only maximize to a single monitor, which is what we’re looking to accomplish with the XA6 apps. Thanks.

This may be a red herring, but I though it might be worth a try. I had a similar problem with full-screen desktops on a dual-monitor PC.

I had two problems that were somehow connected. When launching full screen sessions on a Dual-monitor PC running Receiver for Enterprise 3.2 with a XenApp 6.5 published desktop, the citrix menu (AKA “connection bar”, “desktop viewer”) did not appear. The second problem was that the taskbar was stretched across two monitors, and maximized windows would span both monitors.

When I tried the solution for the first problem, it magically fixed the second!

    http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX122544

By default the “desktop viewer” is only enabled for XenDesktop, but we had grown accustomed to using it because it appeared all on its own with our old XenApp 4.5 farm.

I added the desktopviewer=1 line to the webinterface.conf of my PNAgent site on the Web Interface server and added ConnectionBar=1 to the [application] section of the default.ica file.

Like I said, I wasn’t expecting that one would have anything to do with the other but it worked for me. By the way, this connection bar only appears on Citrix Receiver so it won’t affect your Winterms.
