This is one request I got emailed from Karl…

I’ve been scouring your site for info on the Evo T20, trying to find how to access the built-in diagnostics that are in the firmware (in the ‘bios’ are of the firmware, not the ‘os’ area).

Any ideas on how to access it?

I’ve been trying pressing various keys at boot-time, with no success yet. I’m using the T20 to run DamnSmallLinux – I’ve been documenting the installation method at http://mowson.org/karl/evo_t20

    Karl.

    Hi Karl,

    Thanks for reading my site!

The T20 is based on the Wyse UTC + platform, this is a Wyse board and has a GUI’less BIOS. That is there is no GUI menu to configure options, the only keys I am aware of are the following:

    – Q Key, causes a BootP boot request on standard ports 67,68,69
    – P Key, causes a BootP boot for NetXfer on non standard ports 10067,10068, 10069
    – V Key, resets video settings to 640×480

Other BIOS options require the BIOS to be updated and burned in.

Now for a network boot to linux why not just use Bootp to load up the Linux OS? You can load an image to force the Bootp and maybe set up a DHCP reservation or bootap file to deliver the correct image. If you don’t want to conflict with DHCP use the P key option and set up the network on the non standard ports, it should work.

Here is a link to some files to force the bootp:

Now if this works be sure to post the results to me and I will put them up on the site, also this kind of question is best put in the forums as I seldom get to deal with the email hence the long delay.

    Good luck!

    Cheers,
    -TT
